SeaWolves Golf Takes Second in NHTI Invitational

CONCORD, N.H.-- The Southern Maine Community College golf team finished second in a full field of seven teams at Beaver Meadow Golf Course on Saturday, Sept. 10. The SeaWolves recorded a cumulative 360, one stroke behind first place finishers Paul Smith's College and Dean College (non-conference).

New Hampshire Technical Institute placed third of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) teams shooting a 367. College of St. Joseph's and University of Maine- Augusta finished fourth and fifth with a 386 and 481. 

SMCC's Seth Chim (Portland, Maine) fired a 79, seven over par, to record the lowest score of the tournament against a field of 36 golfers; first-year Kevin Dwyer (Hanover, N.H.) scored an 83, ranking fifth overall. Ben Wade (Brunswick, Maine) and Jacob Locke (Everett, Mass.) carded a 96 and 102. Justin Royce (Hartford, Vt.) scored as the SeaWolves fifth man with a 114. 

Head Coach Ethan Wells commented, "Our team showed today that they can compete with any team in our conference. Consistency in attacking the green through 18 holes was the key to our success. I look forward to what this mentality can do for us at Sable and over the course of the season."

The SeaWolves will invite four teams to their invitational at Sable Oaks Golf Course on Saturday, Sept. 17. 1 p.m. will be the shotgun start time.
