SeaWolves Card First Place Score

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College golf team took first place in its home invitational at Sable Oaks Golf Course on Saturday, Sept. 17. The SeaWolves fired a team score of 366, 24 strokes better than second place finisher New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI). Great Bay Community College (GBCC) took third scoring a 454, Dean College with a 460, and the University of Maine- Augusta (UMA) fifth carding a 484 on the challenging course.

UMA's Lee MacDowell placed first individually among a field of 23 golfers shooting an impressive 78. SMCC's Seth Chim (Portland, Maine) and Kevin Dwyer (Hanover, N.H.) finished their rounds tied for second overall both scoring 82.

First-years Benjamin Wade (Topsham, Maine) contributed with a 96 and Jacob Locke (Everett, Mass.) a 106. Head Coach Ethan Wells was excited about the result at their home course. "This team, one through four, is solid. Individually we have the physical attributes, but consistency and mental toughness throughout the round is what we're shooting for. If we can do it at Sable Oaks, we can do it anywhere."
