SMCC Golf Calls Purpoodock Home

CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletics Department has partnered with Purpoodock Country Club to make it the SeaWolves' home course for the upcoming fall 2017 golf season.

Purpoodock is a private club located in Cape Elizabeth, just 3.5 miles from the South Portland campus. The 6,401-yard track is a unique and walkable course that features tree-line fairways, 12 holes influenced by water, and elevations and slopes that require careful approach shots. Selected as the site of a Senior PGA Tour event, the club also features a driving range and practice green.

Speaking on the move, Head Coach Ethan Wells reflects, "Sable Oaks and its staff were outstanding hosts, however I am thrilled about this opportunity with Purpoodock. The amenities available at the club and its proximity to campus makes it ideal for our student-athletes. I am excited to work with Tony Decker [golf pro] and his staff in putting together another successful season!"

The SeaWolves golf program placed first in three matches and finished as runners-up at the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) championship round a season ago.

Purpoodock will also serve as the new venue of the annual SMCC Athletics Golf Tournament in June. For more information regarding this tournament click HERE.
