SeaWolves Take First at YSCC Qualifier

VASSALBORO, Maine.-- The Southern Maine Community College golf team took first place in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Qualifier hosted by the University of Maine- Augusta at Natanis Golf Course on Sunday, Sept. 25. The SeaWolves fired a cumulative score of 360, seven strokes better than Paul Smith's College.

New Hampshire Technical Institute placed third in the qualifier of the six teams in attendance shooting a 380. Great Bay Community College and the University of Maine- Augusta finished fourth and fifth firing a 427 and 480.

SMCC's Kevin Dwyer (Hanover, N.H.) carded a team low 86, finishing fourth overall in a full field of 33 golfers. Sophomore Seth Chim (Portland, Maine) fired an 87 and first-year Benjamin Wade (Topsham, Maine) finished his round shooting a season low 89. First-year Jacob Locke (Everett, Mass.) contributed with a 98 and Justin Royce (Hartford, Vt.) with a 100 as the fifth man for the SeaWolves.

Over three rounds thus far in their 2016 campaign, Chim is averaging a team low 82.7 and Dwyer right behind with an 83.7.

The action continues when the SeaWolves play in a two-team tournament with the University of Maine-Augusta on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Spring Meadow Golf Course in Gray, Maine. Tee times will begin at 1 p.m.
