CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine— Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) golf hosted a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) golf match at Purpoodock Golf Club on Sunday, Oct. 1—New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI), Great Bay Community College (GBCC), and the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) were all in attendance.

NHTI scored low posting a 384; UMA turned in a second place finish with a 489. SMCC and GBCC were disqualified from team scoring, both with too few players.

First-year Hunter Carignan (Rollinsford, N.H.) fired an 83, matching UMA’s Evan Kordalski for the afternoon low score. Sophomore Seth Chim (Portland, Maine) medaled second with an 86—his best score of the year. However, the most exciting finish goes to first-year McKenze Coyne (Gorham, Maine) who ended with consecutive birdies on 17 and 18 to card a season low 91.

Following the round, Head Coach Ethan Wells commented, “Although we didn’t have enough to score as a team, this was a confidence round. I am proud of how we played today—we have made the adjustments and are shooting the best we have all season. Every player turned in their best score of 2017 today.”
