CUMBERLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) golf team finished as runners-up for the second consecutive week in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) match on Sunday, Sept. 17 at Val Halla Golf Course.

New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) scored a team low 351 to win the tournament, followed by SMCC coming up just one stroke behind. The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) was disqualified from team scoring having three golfers finish the round.

Sophomore Kevin Dwyer (Hanover, N.H.) matched a tournament low and shot his best collegiate round carding an 81. First-year Hunter Carignan (Rollinsford, N.H.) continued his hot streak firing an 85 followed by sophomore Seth Chim (Portland, Maine) with a 92. First-year McKenze Coyne (Gorham, N.H.) set a new collegiate low tallying a 94 and first-year Tyler Hensley (Tupper Plains, Ohio) also improved turning in a 104.

NHTI's Taylor Post matched Dwyer's 81 and UMA's Evan Kordalski medaled third with an 82.

Head Coach Ethan Wells commented, "This was the lowest SMCC golf has scored as a team since the 2012 season and now is the new benchmark for this season. When this team comes together to shoot what they are capable of, we will be in the mix every time."
