NHTI Crowned YSCC Champs, SMCC Scores As Individuals

PORTSMOUTH, N.H.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) golf team placed as individuals in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) championship round at Pease Golf Course on Saturday, Oct. 13.

NHTI scored low to bring home the YSCC title shooting a season best 332. Paul Smith’s College finished as runners-up posting a 356 followed by the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) combining for a 402. The SeaWolves were disqualified from team scoring with too few players.

SMCC first-year Robert Caron (Naples, Maine) signed off on a team-best 103, sophomore Tyler Hensley (Reedsville, Ohio) contributed a 119, and first-year Joseph Cawthon (Delray Beach, Fla.) fired a 123.

Caron finished the season atop the SeaWolves’ stat sheet averaging a 108.0 spanning four rounds this fall. Hensley and Cawthon both conclude the season sporting a 114.8 average.

NHTI’s Trevor Moore turned in the best score of the day—a 77—to earn YSCC Golfer of the Year. UMA’s Keith Ross was awarded YSCC Coach of the Year.
