PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) golf team captured its first Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) championship since 2010, scoring a team low 323 at Pease Golf Course on Saturday, Oct. 16.

Turning in their best score of the season, the SeaWolves were nine strokes better than second-place finisher Great Bay Community College (GBCC). Paul Smith’s College (PSC) recorded a 333 ad NHTI a 381.

First-year Zach Tremblay (Gilledgeville, Ga.) earned a spot on the 5-man all-conference team and medaled third in the championship event. SMCC individual scoring went as follows:

Zach Tremblay- 78 (3)
Sam Winslow- 80
Brian Perrault- 81
Henry Westphal- 84
Albert Doughty- 87

Head Coach AJ Burton commented, “Today was the way we envisioned closing at our season. After a shaky sequence of holes to begin the event, we buckled down at the turn to play our best golf of the season. Henry stepped up in a big way for us today as we continued to display depth 1-5. I’m looking forward to returning a core group and defending our title next year!”
