Men's Soccer Downs Eastern Maine 3-0

South Portland, ME. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team beat Eastern Maine Community College this afternoon 3-0.  The cold, wet weather didn't stop the Seawolves from controlling the ball the entire 90 minutes.  Eastern Maine packed everyone in defensively in an attempt to slow the Seawolves offense.  The strategy was effective as only 3 of the Seawolves 34 shots made it through.

SMCC's first goal was scored by freshman forward Jonathan D'Haiti (South Portland, ME) in the 15th minute, off an assist from Matt McClure (Buxton, ME). Junior midfielder Adam Burpee (South Portland, ME) scored early in the second half to increase the lead to 2-0.  D'Haiti contributed to another goal in the 88th minute when he assisted a goal by junior midfielder Peter Dore (Westbrook, ME).

SMCC improves to 7-3 overall and 7-1 in Yankee Small College Conference play.  The men remain in second place of the YSCC East Division behind UMaine Machias. Their next home game is against UMaine-Augusta on Thursday, October 4th. Game time is slated for 2:00PM.
