Seawolves Defeat Mustangs 2-1

Seawolves Defeat Mustangs 2-1

South Portland - In this afternoons men's soccer action the Seawolves and Mustangs of CMCC played a hard fought, even match for 90 minutes. The Seawolves got off 16 shot attempts with five shots on goal, capitalizing on two of those, while the Mustangs attempted 15 shots, seven being shots on goal, but only managed to get one shot past Seawolves' keeper Spencer Hoyt (Rochester, NH).

Connor Beebe (Waterford, ME) put the Seawolves in the books when he launched a shot from deep that went high into the net past the reach of Mustangs' keeper Dustin Sullivan at the 22 minute mark. SMCC clung to a 1-0 lead until 30 minutes remaining in the second half when Keegan Whelan (Lebanon, ME) crossed a beautiful ball directly to teammate Patrick Duddy's (Sedgwick, ME) right foot. Duddy nailed a powerful shot, burying the ball in the back right corner of the net and giving the Seawolves the 2-0 edge. CMCC responded at the 63rd minute when forward Adan Abo scored off a throw in, cutting the Mustang deficit back to one run. The Seawolves defense contained the Mustang attack and held on to get the 2-1 victory.

SMCC, now 3-4-2, will travel to CMCC for a rematch on Sunday at 3pm.
