Seawolves Down Rams 3-0

Seawolves Down Rams 3-0

Unity - This afternoon the men's soccer team traveled to Unity College where they picked up a 3-0 win to get their overall record above .500, at 4-3-1.

Seawolves' forward Gradi Lapika (Democratic Republic of Congo) wasted no time getting the offense rolling, burying the ball in the back of the net only 6:56 into the game. Sean Jackson (Berwick, ME) chipped in another goal for SMCC when he shot from the top of the box, hit the left post and sent the ball bouncing over a diving Ram's keeper. At the end of the first the Seawolves held onto their 2-0 lead.

Ten minutes into the second half SMCC's Harrison Charwat (McLean, VA) chipped a shot over the goalkeeper to give the Seawolves a three goal cushion. Unity made a push in the final 35 minutes but SM goalie, Drew Martin (Berwick, ME) made three breakaway saves and two impressive power dives for saves to keep the Rams off the scoreboard and solidify the 3-0 victory.

The Seawolves are now 4-3-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. They will once again enjoy a week long break before they travel to YSCC rival UMaine-Machias on Saturday October 3rd at 4pm.
