SeaWolves End Two-Game Skid With YSCC Victory

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College soccer team ended its two-game skid Wednesday, Sept. 17 in a defeat of Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent Central Maine Community College 2-0.

Sophomore Kolin Wyman (Bridgton, Maine) netted his first career goal in spectacular fashion when he looped a one-time shot over the out-stretched Mustang goal keeper in the 30th minute of the match to give the SeaWolves a 1-0 lead.

Sophomore Hugues Bakunda (Lille, France) delivered some reassurance when he converted a penalty kick with 23 minutes remaining in the game. SMCC's back four and sophomore goal keeper Patrick Duddy (Sedgwick, Maine) completed the shutout as the SeaWolves improved to 1-1 in the conference standings and 3-2-1 overall.

Head Coach Brian Dougher commented, "The effort of the team was phenomenal. We walked in with a game plan and executed. Our performance today gives us confidence going into the rest of our conference schedule." SMCC's coaching staff named Wyman and Jacob Coffey (Lebanon, Maine) Men of the Match.
