Dean Hands SeaWolves Loss in Regular Season Finale

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to the Bulldogs of Dean College in its final regular season game on Monday, Oct. 10.

Most recently listed at seventh in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) power rankings, Dean College came into action at 11-1 (W-L), allowing just three goals-against over the season.

The Bulldogs jumped on the scoreboard early in sixth minute and again at the 23 minute mark. The SeaWolves defense held strong against the crafty Dean offense, until the Bulldogs netted their third cap in the final minutes of the match.

SeaWolves goal keeper Patrick Duddy (Sedgwick, Maine) notched 17 saves over 20 attempts. He ranks second in saves (72) in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) and first in save percentage (.847).

Head Coach Brian Dougher and the SeaWolves coaching staff named co-captain Douglas Cloutier (Berwick, Maine) and Jonathan Lapika (Kinshasa, Congo) as Men of the Match.

SMCC concludes the 2016 regular season at 4-2 in conference play and 6-3-1 overall. The SeaWolves will play host to the 1-5 (conference) Rams of Unity College on Sunday, Oct. 16 in their North Division post-season play-in game. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Wainwright Field.
