SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— Brian Dougher, Head Men's Soccer Coach at Southern Maine Community College, has achieved a milestone that no other coach in program history has accomplished, 100 wins.
Dougher reached the triple-digit mark on the final game of his 2016 campaign in the SeaWolves' 2-0 win over the College of St. Joseph's (Vt.) in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) semi-final game on Saturday, Oct. 22.
Dougher, in the completion of his 12th season at the helm of the men's soccer program, has coached to a 100-68-12 (W-L-D) career record and has led his teams to nine winning seasons since his debut in 2005. In 2011, his best season, the team was 13-4-1.
During his coaching tenure, the SeaWolves have qualified for three United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national tournament appearances in 2005, 2007, and 2011, captured two YSCC titles in 2007 and 2011, and finished as YSCC runners-up in 2010 and 2016. Dougher was voted by his peers as the YSCC Coach of the Year in 2007, 2010, and 2011.
Coach Dougher commented, "It's been a wonderful experience working with a great staff and awesome players over the years. To think back when I first arrived at SMCC with the opportunity given to me by Matt Richards—we've achieved so much as a program."
