Cloutier, Duddy Named All-Conference Selections

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— Sophomores Douglas Cloutier (Berwick, Maine) and Patrick Duddy (Sedgwick, Maine) of the Southern Maine Community College men’s soccer team were named Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) All-Conference selections in this 2016 season.

Cloutier, co-captain of the SeaWolves, started and played all 13 games and led the team in points (12) from the center midfield position. Cloutier’s lone goal on the season came as a game-winner against Unity College on Oct. 8. He orchestrated the SMCC offense tallying a conference-leading 10 assists, including two in SMCC’s 2-0 semi-final win over the College of St. Joseph (Vt.) on Oct. 22. Cloutier was also named most Outstanding Offensive Player in the YSCC Final Four Tournament.

Duddy, field player converted goal keeper, led the YSCC in saves (110) and save-percentage (.866) in his 2016 campaign. He ranked second in the conference in goals-against average (1.26) and fourth in goals against, allowing 17 on the season. Duddy started and played all 13 games inside the goal mouth for the SeaWolves and notched four shutouts.

The SeaWolves finished their 2016 season 4-2 in conference play and 9-5-1 overall. They will be waiting on the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) final poll results Tuesday, Nov. 1 with the possibility of receiving an at-large bid to the national tournament in Virginia Beach, Va. scheduled for Nov. 10-14.
