SeaWolves Fall to Bowdoin JV 2-1

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College soccer team was defeated by the Bowdoin College Junior Varsity squad 2-1 at Wainwright Field on Thursday, Sept. 15.

The Polar Bears scored the first goal of the match at the start of the second half on a corner kick delivered by Yuma Kobayashi that curved inside the near post. Bowdoin extended their lead two minutes later when Walter Gadsby found the back of the net on a pass from Kobayashi.

The SeaWolves would get one back on a clever run by sophomore Harrison Charwat (McLean, Va.) who dribbled through two Bowdoin defenders and scored a shot from inside the 18-yard box. SMCC was unable get the equalizer as time expired.

The SeaWolves tallied 12 shots, four on goal. Sophomore Patrick Duddy (Sedgwick, Maine) faced 11 shots and made nine saves. SMCC now owns a 2-1-1 overall record.

The action continues when the SeaWolves travel to the University of Maine-Machias to square off against a Clipper team that is 2-0 in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) standings. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
