Shortened Match Ends In 1-1 Draw

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) men's soccer game between the University of Maine at Machias and Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) at Wainwright Recreation Complex on Saturday, Oct. 14 ended in a 1-1 draw near the 55 minute-mark.

Machias opened scoring courtesy of Lorenzo Segura who finished unassisted on the play in the 32nd minute. SMCC first-year Hanssen Casey (Eliot, Maine) erased the deficit with his team-leading fifth goal of the season, handling a ball from first-year Thomas DuRivage (Stratford, Conn.) minutes before the game was ended at 52:25.

Junior co-captain Patrick Duddy (Sedgwick, Maine) collected four saves in his effort.

With the draw, SMCC stands 2-7-2 overall, 2-4-1 in league action. Machias sits fourth among conference opponents 6-7-2 on the year, 4-2-2 YSCC.

The SeaWolves will get back to work at Central Maine Community College on Friday, Oct. 20 in a make-up conference match beginning at 3:30 p.m.
