BRUNSWICK, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team was shutout by the Bowdoin College Junior Varsity team 2-0 in an exhibition match on Wednesday, Sept. 5.

The SeaWolves struggled to get much going in the first half, tallying three shots to challenge Bowdoin keeper Ben Browne. Meanwhile, the home team went ahead at the 33:23 mark courtesy of a breakaway goal by Sean Mitchell, assisted by Marcus Williams.

The Polar Bears doubled their lead in the early goings of the second half when Yuta Kobayashi created for himself and put one of his five shots on goal past SMCC's Camden Labrecque (Saco, Maine) in the 55th minute.

Bowdoin held the advantage offensively totaling 22 shots and 11 corner kicks, compared to the SeaWolves' 15 and five.

Following the game, Head Coach Brian Dougher named sophomore defender Stephen Brady (Rochester, N.H.) Man of the Match.

The SeaWolves remain 0-1-0 overall and get set to battle Green Mountain College and Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent Vermont Technical College on a two-day road trip Sept. 8-9.
