Labrecque Impressive Despite 4-0 SMCC Loss

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team was shutout 4-0 by the Warriors from Massasoit Community College in a non-conference game at Wainwright on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Massasoit improved on its 1.88 goals-per game average netting three in the first half and another in the second. The Warrior's Charlie Swann finished with a hat trick; Junior Pereira added the other in the four-score win for the road team.

The SeaWolves managed just two shots in the first 45, but were able to turn in a better second half totaling seven more and two corner kicks. First-year goalkeeper Camden Labrecque (Saco, Maine) was impressive to make 12 saves in 90 minutes of work.

SMCC suffers its third consecutive loss, now sporting a .500 record at 4-4-2 overall, 3-0-2 in conference action. The Warriors push to 3-4-0 overall.

The SeaWolves continue their out-of-conference slate when they travel to Quincy College on Monday, Oct. 8. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Creedon Field in Quincy, Mass.
