Seawolves Sweep Golden Eagles in Double Header

South Portland In the first game of today's double header softball action the Lady Seawolves found themselves down 3-0 in the third inning to the Golden Eagles of EMCC, then Roberta Trafton (Corinth, ME) crushed a triple driving in shortstop Shannon Blanchard (Windsor, ME) and jumpstarting the SMCC offense. At the bottom of the fourth inning the score was deadlocked at 3-3 but the Lady Seawolves came out firing, rattling off six hits including doubles by catcher Amber Jones (Deer Isle, ME) and third baseman Charlotte Lewis (Chatham, NH) and bringing in eight runs, pulling ahead 11-3.

The Golden Eagles rallied in the sixth inning to pull the game to within one run, 10-11, but Lady Seawolf first baseman Kathryn Gilio (Hampden, ME) drilled a one run homer in the bottom of the sixth to widen the margin back to two runs. The SMCC defense buckled down and held the Golden Eagles scoreless in the seventh to come away with the 12-10 win.
