Strong Second Half Not Enough to Lift Seawolves Over NHTI

Strong Second Half Not Enough to Lift Seawolves Over NHTI

The Southern Maine Community College women's basketball team turned on the defensive pressure and started hitting shots to outscore visiting NHTI 36-29.  Unfortunately, that was only one half of the contest.  The strong second half effort wasn't enough to overcome the 13 point deficit the Seawolves took into halftime.  NHTI would go home with the 63-57 win.

Freshman Katelyn Benson (Westbrook, ME) led the offensive charge with 21 points with 15 of those coming in the second half.  Sophomore point guard Hanna Lyons (Scarborough, ME) led the Seawolves with 13 rebounds and 5 steals while freshman guard Stefanie Saavedra (Portland, ME) provided a spark off the bench with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals.

The Seawolves fall to 13-9 overall and 9-4 in conference play.  The women hit the road on Saturday to play Vermont Technical College at 1:00PM.
