Lady Seawolves Top Clippers

Machias - In tonight's YSCC women's basketball action the Lady Seawolves of SMCC used full court defensive pressure, resulting in 18 steals, and offensive transition to defeat the Lady Clippers of the University of Maine - Machias by a score of 80-42.

The Clippers had no answer for the Lady Seawolves size down low. The post player foursome of Maria Veino (Sanford, ME), Jaimi Poland (Skowhegan, ME), Roberta Trafton (Corinth, ME) and Nyalieb Deng (Portland, ME) combined for 35 points, 29 rebounds and an impressive 13 blocked shots. Leading all scorers was Lady Seawolves' shooting guard Danielle McCusker (South Portland, ME) who netted 20 points while shooting 69% from the floor. Lady Seawolves' point guards Esther Palmieri (South Portland, ME) and Chandler Waterman (Berwick, ME) each chipped in with 11 points. 

Leading the Lady Clippers was point guard Emma LaGallais who dropped in 13 points and grabbed six boards.  While forward Vanessa Patterson put up 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds. 

The Lady Seawolves improve to a 14-5 overall record and 10-1 record in conference play with this victory. They will return to action at home on Wednesday January 29th against Unity College at 6pm.
