Lady Seawolves Send Seniors Out in Style

South Portland -  In this afternoon's last regular season women's basketball contest the Lady Seawolves used a balanced offensive attack, putting all nine players in the scoring column, and defensive pressure, forcing 30 turnovers, to defeat the Lady Knights of Vermont Technical College by a score of 88-47. 

The Lady Seawolves' graduating class were all major factors in this afternoon's victory. Senior shooting guard Danielle McCusker (South Portland, ME) netted a team high 17 points to go along with five rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Graduating forward Roberta Trafton (Corinth, ME) neared a double double with 11 points and nine rebounds. And senior point guard Esther Palmieri (South Portland, ME) had a team high nine assists to go with 14 points on 4-6 shooting from beyond the arc. 

Other Lady Seawolves making the double digit scoring column were forwards Nyalieb Deng (Portland, ME) who had a double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds and Maria Veino (Sanford, ME) who dropped in 14 points on 6-8 shooting to go with six boards, three assists and three steals. Shooting guard Chandler Waterman (Berwick, ME) chipped in with 12 points, going a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe. 

The Lady Knights were led by point guard Ama Baker, 11 points and seven rebounds, and center Paige Wells who had a game high 16 boards to go with eight points. 

The Lady Seawolves end regular season with an overall record of 18-7 and 12-2 in conference play. The Lady Seawolves will return to action for postseason play in the YSCC quarterfinals on Thursday February 20th at home against New Hampshire Technical Institute at 6pm.
