Lady Seawolves go 2-0 at Can-Am Tournament

Auburn - In this afternoon's women's basketball action, the Seawolves post players combined for 39 points and 27 rebounds to lift SMCC over the University of New Brunswick - St. John and pick up their second win of the Can-Am Tournament.  

It was evident that this was the opening weekend for both teams as the game consisted of a combined 52 turnovers, 25 missed free throw attempts and 92 missed field goals, however the Lady Seawolves were able to slightly outscore UNB in each of the games four quarters to come away with a 62-44 victory. 

The trio of post players that led the way for the Seawolves were Amira Jones (Chicopee, MA), who recorded her first double double of the season netting 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, Ashley Shine (Parkview, MO) who chalked up 13 points, nine boards and Alicia Hoyt (Steep Falls, ME) who had 14 points, five rebounds. Point guard Jordan Turner (Casco, ME) also pitched in with eight points, seven rebounds and four assists. 

UNB's Kenya Plut and Kelsey Simon each recorded a team high ten points. 

The Seawolves, 2-0 overall, will be back on the road next Saturday when they play at Navy Prep at 1pm.
