WARWICK, R.I.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team was dealt its first loss in five games overcome by the Knights from the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) 68-48 in a non-conference game on Sunday, Jan. 22.

The Lady SeaWolves outscored the Knights 14-6 after one quarter of action and maintained a four-point advantage at the half. The CCRI offense came alive to post 20 and 22 in the latter two quarters. This in junction with SMCC's struggles shooting the basketball made for a comeback win for the home team.

The first-year high-low duo Amanda Brett (Portland, Maine) and Abigail Ramirez (Methuen, Mass.) combined for 28 points and near 60 percent of SMCC's offense. Brett has now eclipsed double figures in eight of the previous 10 contests. Sophomore Emily Keene (Livermore Falls, Maine) also contributed 10 points off the bench.

The Knights were led by Jada Littlejohn who topped all scorers in the game with 28, converting 10-22 from the field and 7-9 from the charity stripe. CCRI's Tiondra Hands recorded the unconventional double-double with 14 points and 10 assists.

SMCC dips to 14-6 overall as CCRI climbs to 13-9.

The Lady SeaWolves return to action to avenge a two-point defeat in a pivotal Yankee Small College Conference showdown against #2-ranked University of Maine at Augusta (15-2) on Wednesday, Jan. 24. Tip off at The HUB is slated for 6 p.m. To watch tune into SeaWolves LIVE TV.
