SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The #2-seeded Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women’s basketball team dominated the #7 Rams from Unity College 85-31 in the quarter final round of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) playoff tournament on Sunday, Feb. 17.

There were no lead changes in the game as the SMCC defense limited the opposition to single-digit point totals in each of the first three quarters, to include a mere two points in the third. The SeaWolves knocked down eight of their 11 three-pointers made in the second half and the bench recorded more than half the team’s total points.

Sophomore captain Amanda Brett (Portland, Maine) once again led all scorers in the contest with 24 on 10-24 from the floor. Sophomore captain Abigail Ramirez (Portland, Maine) recorded six steals to move into third place all-time, needing two more to overtake #2. First-year Bailey Cloutier (Vassalboro, Maine) went for 14 points and nine rebounds (six offensive), and first-year Madison White (Keene, N.H.) contributed 10 points on 2-5 from downtown.

Unity’s Victoria Anderson led her team with eight points and 12 rebounds in 38 minutes of action.
