Seawolves Fall to Machias 4-1

Cape Elizabeth, ME. The Southern Maine Community College women's soccer team lost this afternoon to conference foe UMaine-Machias.  Both teams battled evenly in the first half, and Machias went into halftime up 1-0.  An early second half goal by Machias and a Seawolves goal by Michela Desjardins (Fort Kent, ME) kept the game close at 2-1.  Machias kept the defense busy, firing off 14 shots in the second half. The final two Machias goals occurred within 90 seconds of each other, in the 83rd and 85th minute, for the 4-1 final.

Desjardins' goal was in the 62nd minute and was assisted by sophomore BobieLynn Fisher (South Portland, ME).  Freshmen goalie Erica Desjardins (Saco, ME) recorded 15 saves on the day while playing all 90 minutes in goal.
 

The Seawolves move to 5-5 overall and 4-3 in conference play. They hit the road on Monday, October 8 to take on conference foe Central Maine Community College. Game time is slated for 1:00 PM.
