SMCC, NHTI End Game in Deadlock

SMCC, NHTI End Game in Deadlock

Concord - In tonight's YSCC soccer action the Lady Seawolves and NHTI's Lady Lynx played an even game on all fronts and after 110 minutes of play they found themselves deadlocked at a 0-0 tie.

SMCC has to credit Taylor Clapp (Richmond, ME) for a great defensive effort and helping keep the Lady Lynx off the scoreboard. Clapp was given the tough defensive assignment of marking NHTI's leading offensive player, Sahara Brown, and was able to keep her contained and limit her good looks at the net for the duration of the game. After battling the Lady Lynx for over 100 scoreless minutes the Lady Seawolves had a opportunity to clinch the game off an Emma Bonneville (Belfast, ME) corner kick to defender Ali Waterman (Apple Valley, CA) who was able to get her head on the ball but hit it just wide of the right post. Neither team was able to find the back of the net, ending the game in a scoreless tie.

NHTI ended the contest with seven shots and four corners, with three saves by the goalkeeper. While SMCC ended the game with three shots, two corners and seven saves by goalkeeper Sydney Proctor (Saco, ME).

With this tie the Lady Seawolves move to 3-3-3 overall and 2-2-2 in conference play. The Lady Seawolves will return to action on October 5th at the University of Maine - Presque Isle at 3pm.
