Seawolves Roll Past Owls

South Portland - This afternoon the Lady Seawolves picked up their seventh win of the season against the Owls of UMaine - Presque Isle, 4-0. The women's soccer team is now sporting a 7-1-1 overall record, tied for second best in the USCAA. 

The two teams played in a scoreless, back and forth battle for the first 44 minutes of the contest until Seawolves' forward Kym Hendrix (Waterboro, ME) scored off a Hannah Fields (Shapleigh, ME) pass, scoring her ninth goal of the season and putting the Seawolves on top 1-0.

In the second half SMCC defender Marina West (Farmington, ME) sent a ball soaring toward the front of the net where teammate Sarah Clough (Mount Vernon, ME) was waiting to tap it in and give the Seawolves their second goal of the afternoon. The Owls kept the Seawolves quiet for the next 30 minutes but in the final ten minutes of the game SM's Zyrah Guistra (New Sharon, ME) chalked up two goals, solidifying the 4-0 win. Giustra currently ranks 6th in the YSCC in goals scored with eight. 

UMPI keeper Allie Lopez had 12 saves on the afternoon. 

The Lady Seawolves will wrap up regular season play on Tuesday when the host the Mustangs of CMCC at 4:30pm.
