SeaWolves Runaway With Win On Sopo Strikers Day

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team cruised to an 8-0 victory over the Knights from Vermont Technical College in its first Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) contest on Saturday, Sept. 18.

Before the game, SMCC welcomed the youth soccer teams of the South Portland Strikers in a pre-game ceremony and half-time scrimmage.

The SeaWolves scored three in the first half with goals coming from first-years Brittany Verrill (Bowdoin, Maine) and Jordyn Hulsey (South Portland, Maine) and junior Paige Lord (Pittsfield, Maine).

First-years Jordan Boone (Norridgewock, Maine) and Mackenzie Farnham (South Portland, Maine) scored their first and second goals of the season in the second half before Lord finished for her fourth of the year to seal the runaway win.

SMCC climbs to 2-1-0 overall, 1-0-0 in league play. VTC slips to 0-4-1 on the season, 0-2 YSCC.

The Lady SeaWolves return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 22 when they welcome the Lynx from NHTI in another conference tilt. Kickoff at Wainwright Recreation Complex is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
