SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) foe NHTI on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

The SeaWolves out-shot their opponent 10-5 in the first half and dominated much of the possession game. It was to no avail as NHTI's sure-handed goalkeeper Madison Lima corralled the attack.

The Lynx scored in the 73rd minute on a ball from Emily Knouse to Kalleesia Selby that broke the stalemate; and then again on a corner kick taken by Jaycee Murray that found the head of Madisyn Buteau at the 83:29 mark.

Head Coach Ethan Wells stated, "We played some of our best soccer in the first half of the match, building from the back and connecting through the midfield—but didn't capitalize on our scoring chances early. We are fighting through the injury bug and just ran out of steam towards the end."

The SeaWolves now sport a 2-2 overall record, 1-1 in league play. NHTI stands 2-1 league play.

The action continues when SMCC travels to Albany, N.Y. for a back-to-back with conference-affiliate Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on Saturday and Bryant and Stratton College- Albany on Sunday.
