CONCORD, N.H.—The #5-seeded Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team was defeated 3-1 by the top-seeded Panthers from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) in the semifinal round of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) championships on Saturday, Oct. 23.

SMCC struck first on a bouncing ball that fell to a volley from first-year forward Mackenzie Farnham (South Portland, Maine) for her fifth goal of the year at the 38:54 marker. Less than five minutes later, Albany's Emily D'Abrosca slotted a near post ball to get the equalizer before the half.

Conference Player of the Year and Panther Julia Roemer scored her 19th and 20th goals of the season in the second to power her team by a hard-nosed SeaWolves' defense.

First-year SMCC goalkeeper Ella Campbell (Windham, Maine) tallied 10 saves on a total 26 shots from the Panthers.

Head Coach Ethan Wells expressed, "It's not the way you start rather the way you finish—and when our backs were up against it this year this team found another gear. We played with heart and soul in both playoff rounds, and that is the type of momentum I'm excited to carry into next year. With a full complement of returners for 2022, our sights are set for a return visit to Concord."

The Lady SeaWolves conclude their season at 5-7 overall, 1-4 in conference play.

ACPHS went on to suffer a 1-0 loss to Paul Smith's College in the YSCC title game.
