Women’s Soccer To Defend Title With 14-Game Schedule

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—Head Coach Ethan Wells and the women’s soccer program will look to defend their 2019 Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) title with a full return to athletics and a 14-game regular season schedule.

The Lady SeaWolves open on the road with a pre-season exhibition on Aug. 27 against the University of Maine at Farmington (NCAA) before returning home for a date with the Bengals from the University of Maine at Fort Kent and reigning United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division 1 national champions on Sept. 2.

SMCC travels to Massasoit Community College (NJCAA) and Springfield Technical Community College (NJCAA) ahead of hosting in-state rival Central Maine Community College (CMCC) for a midweek showdown on Sept. 15. The SeaWolves begin conference competition with a three-game slate against Vermont Technical College, NHTI, and a weekend tour in Albany, N.Y. to include Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and Bryant & Stratton College.

The Lady SeaWolves will play a three-game homestand to showcase Husson University (NCAA), Word of Life Bible Institute, and Paul Smith’s College on Oct. 2 for Alumni, Friends, and Family Weekend. SMCC concludes its regular season with trips to CMCC on Oct. 6 and Bristol Community College (NJCAA) on Oct. 11.

The 2021 season will feature a six-team YSCC postseason format with a #3 vs. #6 and #4 vs. #5 play-in round the weekend of Oct. 16-17. The Final Four stage will be held at NHTI (Concord, N.H.) Oct. 23-24 with a chance at a bid to the USCAA National Tournament in Virginia Beach, Va. spanning Nov. 11-15.

All soccer games are played at Wainwright Recreation Complex at 125 Gary L. Maietta Way in South Portland.
