AUBURN, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team travelled to rival Central Maine Community College (CMCC) to take on the Mustangs in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) quarterfinal round on Saturday, Oct. 22.

How It Happened

The Seawolves came under attack in the first half by the Mustangs, conceding early in the 7th minute going down 1-0. SMCC were quick to regain control and took advantage of an opportunity inside the 21-minute mark when sophomore Paige St. Pierre (Waterville, Maine) got on the other end of a cross by first-year Emilienne Biddings-Augustine (New Gloucester, Maine) to level the game at 1-1.

With 20 seconds remaining in the first half, junior co-captain Desiree Veilleux (Winslow, Maine) tucked a free kick under the cross bar for her third score of the season. A 2-1 lead would be all the Seawolves' defense needed to lock down a clean 45 minutes for their second consecutive playoff win in Auburn.
