Women's Soccer drop home match to CMCC

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine-- The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team fell short to the Mustangs from Central Maine Community College (CMCC) 3-1 in non-conference action on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

CMCC put two away in the first half, without a reponse from SMCC. The first goal came at the 17:46 mark courtesy of Natalie Tracy. This was followed by another unassisted goal from Madison Drew at the 28:31 mark.

In the second half, SMCC managed to get on the scoreboard with a goal from first-year Katelyn Ambrose (Andover, Mass.) at the beginnings of the second half. The Seawolves showed momentum for the remainder, but couldn't find the equalizer. Committing on the attacking end, SMCC conceeded another with seconds remaining in regulation to go down 3-1. 

CMCC's goalkeeper Emma Knowles made 12 saves throughout the game, while SMCC's goalkeeper, sophomore Grayson Soldati (Portland, Maine) collected eight.

The Seawolves dip to 4-3-1 overall; the Mustangs improve to 3-2-1.

The Seawolves return to action on Saturday, Sept. 30 when they host the reigning Yankee Small College Conference champions Paul Smith's College. Kickoff at Wainwright is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
