Seawolves get back on track with 5-0 win over Vermont

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine-- The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team took down the Knights from Vermont State University- Randolph 5-0 in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) action on Sunday, Oct. 8.

SMCC wasted no time scoring is first, courtesy of first-year midfielder Jadyn Eastman (South Berwick, Maine) just four minutes into the game, assisted by sophomore Emilienne Biddings-Augustine (New Gloucester, Maine). Eastman struck again in the 37th minute, this time with an assist from sophomore Mia Pasciuto (Littleton, Mass.). Pasciuto herself found the back of the net in the 39th minute, extending the home team's lead to 3-0.

The second half continued to be a one-sided affair, with the Seawolves adding two more goals to their tally. First-year Jocelyn Civiello (Sanford, Maine) scored in the 46th minute and first-year Brianna Lopez (Westbrook, Maine) sealed the victory, on a ball delivered by first-year Talia Bradbury (South Portland, Maine).

SMCC put together an impressive offensive performance, recording a total of 38 shots, 19 on target. Goalkeepers Caitlin Burke (New Sheron, Maine) and Ella Campbell (Windham, Maine) each saw 45 minuts inside the goal mounth, combining for one save.

The Seawolves improve to 5-5-1 and 3-2-1 in conference action.

Next the women travel to Central Maine Community College to take on their in-state rivals on Wednesday, Oct. 11. Kickoff in Auburn, Maine is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
