Mackenzie and Salevsky Named SeaWolves of the Week

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— First-year Kristen Mackenzie (Seabrook, N.H.) and sophomore Max Salevsky (Hollis, Maine) were named SeaWolves of the Week on Tuesday, May 2.

Mackenzie, of the softball team, led the Lady SeaWolves to a perfect 4-0 record last week against Central Maine Community College. The lead-off hitter collected six hits (.545) and will ride a four-game hitting streak into the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Championship Tournament. The first-year recorded seven runs and added three stolen bases.

From the rubber, Mackenzie recorded two wins in two complete game shutouts. The right-hander gave up just five hits in 10 innings or work and struck out 12.

Salevsky, of the baseball team, earned SeaWolf of the Week honors for his masterful pitching performance in a must-win scenario on Friday, April 28. With the conference one-seed on the line, Salevsky tossed 10 innings of one-run baseball (none earned) and walked just one—this the longest outing of any SMCC pitcher this season. The SeaWolves went on to win the game 2-1 and eventually lock up the top-seed in the YSCC Championship Tournament to be played at SMCC on Saturday, May 6.
