MacVane '94 and Davis '06 Headline 2012 SMCC Athletics Hall of Fame Ceremony

The Seawolves Athletic Club held the 7th annual Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletic Hall Of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, October 13, 2012 in the McKernan Center on SMCC's South Portland campus. The 2012 class of inductees consisted of former basketball players Andy MacVane '94 and Erica Davis '06.  MacVane and Davis are more than worthy of the recognition they received and raised the number of SMCC Athletic Hall Of Fame members to 16 individuals and 1 team.

Andy MacVane was the first inductee of the night. MacVane currently ranks 12th in career rebounding and 13th in career scoring for the SMCC Men's Basketball program. MacVane averaged 17 points and 7 rebounds per game during his career. He was a two time all-MSCC selection and was named 1st team NNESCC selection in 1993. His teams won the MSCC titles in 1993 and 1994 as well as winning the NNESCC title in 1993.

Erica Davis's induction was a milestone for SMCC Athletics. Davis is the first female to ever be inducted into the Southern Maine Community College Athletics Hall of Fame. A former basketball and softball player for the Seawolves, Davis finished third in scoring (18.9), second in total rebounds (12.5) and second in total steals (4.7) for all USCAA Division I women's basketball during the 2006 basketball season. In only one season of play, Davis accrued statistics that currently rank her 7th overall in career scoring at SMCC, 6th in career rebounds, and 3rd in career steals.  She was named 1st team Yankee Small College Conference, YSCC Player of the Year and was a 2006 USCAA all-American.

In Softball, Davis batted .375 and was 11 for 11 on stolen bases in one season.  She was named a 2006 all-YSCC selection.

MacVane was introduced by his former SMCC coach and member of the 2007 Hall of Fame class, Ira "Doc" Stockwell, while Davis was introduced by her former high school coach, Jim Seavey. Both MacVane and Davis had numerous family members and former teammates in attendance.

"Both inductees had outstanding careers while at SMCC and also have made significant contributions and success upon leaving the college," said SMCC Director of Athletics Matt Richards. "Induction into the Athletics Hall of Fame is very fitting for them as they exemplify what we hope our current student athletes will strive to become."
