SOUTH PORTLAND, ME – Southern Maine Community College Seawolves defeat New Hampshire Technical Institute to reach YSCC Conference Finals, 7-4.

New Hampshire Technical Institute drove in 3 runs in the first inning to take the early lead.  Seawolves pitcher, Mustafa Jamal (Gorham, ME) regained his composure as he pitched a complete game. The Seawolves bats finally came to life in the 5^th inning to take the lead for good.  Adam Hamilton (Westbrook, ME) and Christian Giles (Dexter, ME) each had 2 RBI’s for the Seawolves.

Conference Final

The Vermont Technical College Knights squeeze by the Seawolves (13-21 Overall, 8-8 YSCC) in the bottom of the 7^th, 6-5, to win the 2011 YSCC Conference Championship.

The Knights jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the 3^rd inning. The Seawolves bats started to heat up as they rallied in the 6^th inning to tie the game. The Seawolves loaded the bases in the top of the 7^th but could not take advantage of their opportunity. The knights loaded the bases up in the bottom of the 7^th and a double by Nick Vorvis knocked in the winning run to end the game.

Making the All Tournament team today as defensive player was sophomore, Jeremy Gearty (Lebanon, ME).

The Seawolves will be back in action this weekend as they host the USCAA National baseball championship in Old Orchard Beach, ME, May 13-18^th.
