Baseball Earns Two Victories Over Vermont Technical College

South Portland, ME. The Seawolves of Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) took two games from conference foe Vermont Technical College this afternoon. Game one went down to the wire with the Seawolves coming out on top 6-5. SMCC controlled game two from the first pitch and cruised to a 9-1 victory.

Leading the way for the Seawolves in game one was freshman Matt Turnage (Waterboro, ME) who went 4-4 with a single, two doubles and a triple. Turnage scored the go-ahead run off a single from sophomore Donnie Cray (Gardiner, ME). Cray also earned the win on the mound pitching all seven innings.

Freshman pitcher Andrew Richards (South Portland, ME) shut things down in game two. Richards, now 4-2, threw all seven innings giving up only 2 hits, tallying 7 strikeouts and allowing no walks. The Seawolves backed Richards up on the offensive end with four repeat hitters (Cray, Michael CalabreseWade Tuttle and Colton Houle).

The Seawolves improve to 16-14-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play. They are back in action on Tuesday, April 17th when they travel to Saint Joseph's College (ME) for a 4:00PM single game.
