Practice is well underway for the SMCC Baseball team. Veteran head coach Phil Desjardins is looking forward to the new season stating "we've got a lot of newcomers combined with a strong core of returners, so we're expecting a fresh new start and believe we'll do really well."
Returners to the pitching staff include right-handers Mustafa Jamal (Gorham, ME) and Chad Egeland (Westbrook, ME). A few big bats also return in Donnie Cray (Gardiner, ME), Michael Crowley (Gouldsboro, ME) and AC Stewart (Portland, ME).
Adding new life to the team will be pitcher and third baseman Matt Turnage (Saco, ME), first baseman Jonathan Dupee (Saco, ME), outfielder Michael Calebrese (Dover, NH), pitcher Torrey Proctor (Scituate, MA), pitcher Josh Leitson (Portland, ME) and pitcher and first baseman Michael Vadnais (Biddeford, ME).
The Seawolves start the fall season with a home opener against Bridgton Academy on Wednesday, September 7th. First pitch is slated for 4:00 PM.
