The SMCC Baseball team opened the 2011-2012 season with a 2-1 win over Bridgton Academy. Mike Crowley (Gouldsboro, ME) got on base in the second inning with a walk. He later stole second and was then driven in off a fielder’s choice by Mike Vadnais (Biddeford, ME). Chad Egeland (Portland, ME) threw a one-hitter through five and two-thirds innings. With the game tied 1-1, Josh Leitson (Oak Park, IL) entered the game and closed out the sixth. After a pair of walks in the bottom of the inning, Michael Calabrese (Dover, NH) drove in the go ahead run. The Seawolves kept Bridgton scoreless in the seventh to hold on to the victory. Leitson is credited with the win.
The Seawolves are in action again on Saturday when they host the UNH club team. First pitch is slated for noon.
