Seawolves Drop Final Two Games in Virginia

Hampton, VA. After a storm cancelled a game yesterday, the Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team dropped their final two games today in Virginia going 0-4 on their road trip. In the first game SMCC lost to Apprentice College by a score of 8-6 while losing to College of Albermarle 6-2 in the second game .  

In the first game, the Seawolves came out strong opening up a 5-2 lead in the first inning but in the sixth Apprentice came roaring back scoring 5. To lead SMCC in a losing effort was freshman Devin Lyshon (Bangor, ME) who went 2 for 4 with an RBI while scoring a run. Sophomore Michael Calabrese (Dover, NH) also added a couple hits while pitcher Daniel French (Richmond, VT) gets the loss.

In the second game, SMCC was held scoreless until the 6th inning but couldn't overcome the deficit. Leading the way for the Seawolves was freshman Zachary Horton (South Portland, ME)who went 3 for 4 with an RBI while freshman Jason Weatherbee (Wiscasset, ME) scored both of SMCC's runs. Freshman Corey Monjiat (Waterboro, ME) gets the loss.

SMCC drops to 11-9-1 overall and remains 3-1 in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). The Seawolves will have some time off when they return home and don't play again until Saturday March 23rd when they will host a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Jamboree. SMCC will be playing Eastern Maine Community College at 1:00pm.
