Briarcliffe, NY.The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team lost a couple tough games today as they traveled to Briarcliffe of New York for a double header. The Seawolves lost 12-2 in 5 innings in the first game and lost 10-9 in the second.
In the first matchup, the Seawolves were led by freshman short stop Brendan Reil (Berwick, ME) who went 2 for 2 at the plate. Freshman third baseman Jason Weatherbee (Wiscassett, ME) went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's and scored a run with freshman pitcher Nate McKeown(Biddeford, ME) getting the loss.
In the second of the 2 games, SMCC was led by sophomore center fielder Michael Calabrese(Dover, NH) went 4 for 4 with one RBI and one run scored. Sophomore catcher Alex Brown(Weymouth, MA) went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's, 2 runs scored and a home run. Freshman pitcherCorey Monjiat (Waterboro, ME) got the loss.
With both losses, SMCC drops to 12-11-1 overall and remains at 3-1 in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). The Seawolves come home to face St. Joe's of ME (JV) this Tuesday April 2nd. The game is scheduled for a 3:30pm start.
