Seawolves Split With Dean College

Franklin, MA. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team split today as they traveled to Franklin MA. to play a double header against Dean College. In the first game SMCC's bats came alive in the fourth inning scoring 8 runs sending them to a 12-8 win. In the second game of the double header, the Seawolves were in a 0-0 ball game until Dean scored 4 in the 5th inning. SMCC couldn't recover as they lost 5-1.

In the first game of the double header, the Seawolves were led by freshman Zachary Horton (South Portland, ME) who went with one run scored, an RBI and drew a walk. Sophomore Alex Brown (Weymouth, MA) went 2 for 4 at the plate and also contributed 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Pitcher Eli Capen (Jay, ME) earned the win with freshman Corey Monjiat (Waterboro, ME) picking up the save.

In the second game, SMCC was led by freshman Zachary Horton (South Portland, ME) who ended up going 1 for 2 and drawing a walk. Sophomore Michael Calabrese (Dover, NH) went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Freshman Jason Weatherbee (Wiscasset, ME) got the loss

With the split today, SMCC moves to 15-13-1 overall and remain at 7-1 in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). The Seawolves will have a few days off before traveling to Northern Essex Community College (NECC) this Wednesday April 9th for a 3:30pm start time.
