Seawolves Lose in 5 Innings

Haverhill, MA. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team traveled to Haverhill, MA this afternoon to take on Northern Essex Community College (NECC) for the first time in the 2012-2013 season. The Seawolves however couldn't get it going offensively as NECC beat them in 5 innings by a score of 12-2. SMCC was only able to get 6 hits while Northern Essex put up 7 runs in the fourth inning alone. 

The Seawolves were led in a losing effort by sophomore pitcher and outfielder Michael Calabrese (Dover, NH). With 3 plate appearances Calabrese grabbed 2 hits, stole a base and scored both of SMCC's runs. Sophomore outfielder Alex Brown (Weymouth, MA) and freshman short stop Ethan Bilderback (Annapolis, MD) each contributed a hit and an RBI. Michael Calabrese (Dover, NH) picked the loss.

With the loss to NECC, it moves SMCC to 15-14-1 overall while they remain at 7-1 in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). The Seawolves will be back on the road tomorrow Wednesday, April 10th as they travel to Bridgton Academy (BA) for a 4:00pm game.
