Baseball loses 2 games to SNHU (JV)

South Portland, ME. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team hosted a double header today as Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) junior varsity team came to town. With the scored tied 4 to 4 in the 7th inning of the first game, SNHU scored 3 runs to beat Seawolves 7-4. In game 2, SNHU scored 2 runs on an error in the 5th inning that gave them a 3-1 lead and the victory.  

In the first game the Seawolves were led by freshman short stop Ethan Bilderback (Annapolis, MD) who went 1 for 2 at the plate while scoring a run and drawing a walk. Freshman outfielder Austen Keenan (New Gloucester, ME), freshman first baseman Zachary Horton (South Portland, ME) and freshman Devin Lyshon (Bangor, ME) all contributed a hit. Freshman pitcher Eli Capen (Jay, ME) picked up the loss.
 
To lead SMCC in the second game was freshman outfielder Michael Calabrese (Dover, NH) who went 1 for 3 and scored a run. Junior second baseman Jeremy Gearty (Lebanon, ME), freshman first baseman Zachary Horton (South Portland, ME) and freshman outfielder Devin Grover (Wiscasset, ME) all went 1 for 3 at the plate. Freshman pitcher Nate McKeown (Biddeford, ME) got the loss.
 

With both losses, SMCC drops to 15-17-1 overall while they remain at 7-1 in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). The Seawolves will be back at it tomorrow April 14th as they host another double header against University of Maine Presque Isle (UMPI). The games will have a 2:00 and 4:00pm start.
