Seawolves Swept in Fight for 302 Challenge Cup

North Bridgton, ME. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team traveled to North Bridgton, ME to compete against Bridgton Academy (BA) for the 302 Challenge Cup. After losing the first game at home in the best of three series, the Seawolves hit the road to try and earn two victories to take home the trophy. Their dreams fell short as Bridgton won 7-4, sweeping the series. The Seawolves got on the board first scoring a run in the first inning but the Wolverines answered quickly scoring 3 runs during their first at bat. The Seawolves were able to tack on a few runs in the 6th inning trying to mount a comeback but the Wolverines had already scored enough to hold them off.

Leading the way for the Seawolves was freshman short stop Ethan Bilderback (Annapolis, MD) who went 3 for 3 at the plate included a double. Bilderback also scored a run and stole a base. Sophomore outfielder Alex Brown (Weymouth, MA) went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a walk. Sophomore center fielder and leadoff hitter Michael Calabrese (Dover, NH) also contributed a hit while scoring twice. Junior pitcher Daniel French (Richmond, VT) took the mound and got the loss.

With the loss, SMCC drops to 22-22-1 overall and was swept in the fight for the 302 Challenge Cup. The Seawolves will hit the road tomorrow, May 5th for their last game of the season against Navy Prep. Game time scheduled for 1:00PM.
