Seawolves Fall to Bridgton Academy in Home Opener

South Portland The SMCC baseball team dropped a 6-3 decision to Bridgton Academy in their season opener this evening. First inning RBI's by Bridgton's Aaron Drumany and Evan Morris gave the Wolverines an early 2-0 lead.

SMCC's Robert Hamilton (Windham, ME) batted in designated hitter Pat Emanuelson (Hudson, NH) in the second inning to make the score 2-1. A score by Bridgton's Cody Younger in the third inning had the Wolverines on top 3-1, but a two out, two RBI shot by Seawolf freshman Ryan Riordan (Lisbon, ME) knotted the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Bridgton pulled ahead for good on a John Williams score in the fifth inning and the Wolverines built on their lead scoring two more runs in the seventh, giving Bridgton the 6-3 victory.

With this loss the Seawolves drop to 0-1 overall and 0-0 in conference play while the Bridgton Academy Wolverines improve to 1-0 overall.

SMCC will return to action Saturday, September 7th at home versus Central Maine Community College.
