Seawolves Sweep Beavers

Farmington - In tonight's baseball action the Seawolves swept the Beavers of the University of Maine - Farmington in a double header with score of 7-3 in game one and 7-5 in game two.

In game one pitcher Nathan Boyle (Windham, ME) picked up the win for the Seawolves throwing 6 and a third innings, allowing only three hits and racking up four strikeouts. The Seawolves only managed to get two hits for the game but they were crucial. The first hit came in the first inning when second baseman Andrew Rascoe (Fryeburg, ME) had a two out, two RBI single to give the Seawolves a 5-0 after scoring the first three runs on the wild pitching by the Beavers. In the fifth inning first basemen Robert Hamilton (Windham, ME) crushed a two run homerun to give the Seawolves seven totals runs en route to a 7-3 triumph.

In game two the win was picked up by pitcher Deion Stewart (Portsmouth, NH) in relief and pitcher Dylan Morrow (Hays, TX) notched his second save for the afternoon. The Seawolves found themselves trailing 2-1 in the fourth inning when Adam Volkernick (Rumford, ME) hit a two RBI single to give the Seawolves a 3-2 lead. First baseman Robert Hamilton (Windham, ME) added a two RBI single later in the fourth to the Seawolf lead to 6-2 at the end of the inning. Centerfielder Alex Brown (Weymouth, MA) nailed a solo homerun in the sixth to pad the Seawolf lead, giving them a 7-5 victory.

With these two wins the Seawolves improve to 9-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play. The Seawolves will return to action Sunday September 29th for a doubleheader at New Hampshire Technical Institute at 12pm and 2pm.
